Not renewable in anything close to the qty needed
The corn belt has already cleared and begun farming every possible spit of soil to meet the existing demand. Fields are not being fallowed when they need to be and they are dumping fertilizer and ammonium nitrate into the soil like crazy to make up for it.
US corn and soybean production is pretty much maxed out. Maybe we should clear some more rain forests in South America to create more farm land to save the earth?
As with all the renewables, they are small pieces of the overall pie that continues to be dominated by fossil fuels for the simple reason that you just can't produce enough energy, much less at an economically sustainable cost, using anything else.
